Last summer, right before school started, we decided that we wanted to do something fun as a family. We chose to drive over to Fort Worth to visit the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and since Dallas wanted to take a friend, we asked our neighbors and their granddaughter, Hailey to go with us. We did so much, and had a great time doing everything. We made paper airplanes in the "How Do Planes Fly" special exhibit, we learned about the Solar System in the Planetarium, we played with all the hand-on exhibits, toured the Cattle Raisers Museum, and so much more. By far, Dallas' favorite part was the dinosaur exhibit and the dino dig, where he and Hailey got to become archeologist and did to find dinosaur bones. To make this layout, I cut out all the pieces using my cricut (Create A Critter, Disney Mickey Font, and Elegant Edges). Then I inked around all the edges using Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink, and then started putting it all together. I love how the 3 different pattern papers work so well together, and how the fuzzy ribbon works to anchor the layout. The two little dinosaurs are as cute as can be. I finished it off by printing my journaling on a transparent sheet and tucking and attaching it under the pictures so it would stay down and no one would see the adhesive. Time to start planning this year's pre-school field trip. The Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog Design Team is taking a little break to spend the Holidays with our families. Each day, a new project, by a design team member will be posted on the blog. My project, my Christmas Jammies were posted on day 2. So head on over there for a new project each day, and some Christmas inspiration. I haven't posted in a while, but I have had a great time with my family celebrating the holidays. I love spending time with my family, espically since we live 2 hours away and don't get to see them as often as we once did. While I was doing some shopping, I came across this pair of pajama pants on the clearance rack. I thought they were really cute and since they had the small stripe of silver in them, that they would make a great iron-on project. I couldn't decide what to put on it, but after thinking about it for a while, I settled on my name. I have an unusual name, thanks to the creativity of my parents and grandparents. I'm told that my name was Amanda LeAnn up until the day I was born, and my dad said that I didn't look like an Amanda to him, so they began searching and thinking of a new name. I believe that it was my grandma Betty who came up with "JoNeita." It is a combination of both of my grandmother's names - Betty Jo and Boneita. That is why I spell it with a capital "N." Most people don't know, but my first name is Evelyn, which is also my mother's name, and was my great-grandmothers name as well. So, I am proud to say that I am named after my mother, both my grandmothers, and my great-grandmother, then my maiden name was Spicer, from my dad. When I got married, I didn't drop my maiden name, like most people do, I wanted to keep it. So, I just tacked Kelly on the end, and made Spicer kind of like a second middle name. So, since there were two Evelyn's already, as I was growing up, I was always called JoNeita. My great-grandmother didn't pass away until I was in my 20's, she was just a few weeks from her 95th birthday, I hope I live that long. So, I had a different kind of name. One that most people can't spell, can't pronounce (It's Jo....Neita, with a J not a G), and that most people I meet are afraid of. I'll answer to almost any variation of the name, as I know it's hard. A lot of people call me Jo, which is fine too, and a lot easier to remember. Actually, many of the kids in our family have giving me a couple of great nicknames, because they can't say JoNeita. My cousin Alexis called me "Geita" until she was in middle school, and sometimes still does. Anyway, the reason for all this, is that because I have a creative name, I never had personalized clothes and could never find anything with my name on it. It was cool when I was in middle school to have a notebook or keychain with your name on it, but of course, it was impossible to find one with my name on it. I could find things with the name Evelyn on it, but no one knew me by that name. At my high school graduation, a guy who I had been in school with since kindergarten, asked me "Your name is Evelyn?" I guess when they only hear it once a year, the first day of school, it is easy to forget. So, I decided to put my name on this pair of pajama pants, and I love how it turned out. I used the Disney Mickey Font Cartridge and silver iron-on glitter vinyl. I cut the letters out, placed them, and ironed them on. It was super easy, and I love them.

I got around to doing a layout to highlight the pictures I took of my son in his Halloween outfit, for Halloween 2012. He was so cute in his fireman jacket, so I knew I wanted to create a theme page to really highlight the pictures. I think I use my Create A Critter cartridge more than I have any other, but I couldn't resist the little fire dog and accessories. The title, was cut using Create A Critter as well, but cut the letters using the Disney Mickey Font cartridge. I used my Cuttlebug to add texture. I really like how this page turned out, one of my favs of the year. This was also his birthday theme, which in is October as well.
A co-worker asked me to make a little something that would say thank you from everyone at our organization in Texas, that we can send to a retiring friend in Washington D.C.. So I thought what better way than to scream "Texas", and we did. I used the Texas shape, word Texas, the Texas Flag, our state flower - the bluebonnet, and a star to represent the Lone Star State. I think the page turned out really cute and it has plenty of room for personal messages on the back.

They asked me to take a few pictures of her to celebrate her 16th birthday, back in December 2011. Since I live so far away, we had planned for them to come up to Denton, to take the pictures, and just our luck....rain. So we went around Denton, until we found a nice covered, well lit place to take a few shots. We went up to TWU and UNT and I think the pictures turned out pretty good. I made the pretty little paper cupcake, that we used in the picture. I wanted a prop that would be easy to make and light. I think it was a really cute way to show the reason for the pictures. When I decided to scrapbook the page, I knew I wanted it to have a cupcake theme. I had found the cute, little cupcake by recollections on the discount rack at Michaels. I decided to make another cupcake, which would be a little bigger, that was similar to the one we used in the pictures. I made both cupcakes with my doodlecharms cricut cartrige. The only difference, is this time I was able to do it all very quickly, using the cricut craft room.
